BMW software, built in a working workshop

Fix the real fault. Not the guess.

I'm building AI-assisted diagnostic and coding software for BMWs — for owners who like to work on their own car, and for the specialists who do it every day. Workshop knowledge and AI, in your own language.

  • E-series first
  • Tested on real BMW data
  • Backups before every write

Mixture control, bank 1: too lean

  2. Lean on one bank only. Before replacing anything, read the mixture adaptation for both banks — at idle and at a steady 2,500 rpm.

  3. Bank 1 additive is high at idle, normal at 2,500. Bank 2 looks normal.

  4. Lean at idle, corrected under load, one bank only: most likely unmetered air on the cylinder 1–3 side, rather than injectors or O₂ sensors. Next: smoke test the intake, starting at the manifold gasket.

  5. Next test: smoke test, intake side

Why BimmerDock

I see the same problems in the workshop every week.

BimmerDock software exists because of real cars and real customers, not a market report.

01

The tools are stuck in the past

Deep work on E-series cars still means INPA, WinKFP, NCS Expert and friends: separate programs, cryptic config files, poor support on modern laptops — and one wrong step can leave a module unresponsive.

02

Real specialists are rare

In Hungary and across the region there are very few people who truly understand these cars. Owners wait weeks, drive hours, or end up with someone who is guessing.

03

Owners pay for guesses

Without clear information, a fault code turns into a parts list. I regularly see cars where hundreds of euros were spent replacing parts that were never the problem.

04

Knowledge is locked behind language

Factory documentation and the best forums are mostly in German or English. If you don't read either, most of what you need simply isn't available to you.

Products

One shipped. Two big ones on the way.

Small helper tools are free. The big apps are paid products, built to be used every day: by professionals in the workshop and by enthusiasts in their garage.

E-Series Switch

One click between the E-series tools and factory ISTA+.

The legacy E-series tools only run with EDIABAS in the Windows environment, and ISTA+ breaks when it is there. Every change of car meant registry edits, INI tweaks, reboots and cryptic NET-0009 errors. Now it's one click, and you always see which mode the PC is in.

  • Switches between INPA, WinKFP, NCS Expert, Tool32 and ISTA+ from BMW AOS on the same Windows PC
  • Sets up ICOM (with IP), ENET, K+DCAN or offline, with the matching LoadWin64 and ports
  • Keeps WinKFP's NFS.INI in sync, so NFS starts without surprises
  • Byte-exact edits that touch only EDIABAS entries, with a backup before every change
  • Single portable .exe, English and Hungarian UI, update notifications

For professionals

E-Series Studio

The modern E-series coding workbench.

NCS Expert data, EDIABAS control units and vehicle orders in one modern app, every value explained in English or Hungarian, and nothing written before you see what it changes. Jobs that used to take several outdated programs, in one place.

v0.1 is running today. An F- and G-series edition is planned as a separate app.

  • Every coding value explained, next to its factory value
  • Retrofit planner: see every change before anything is coded
  • FA and ZCS decoded and edited, check characters validated
  • SP-Daten check that verifies and repairs the BMW data install
  • Next: a built-in AI diagnostic assistant

E-Series Studio · v0.1

Every coding decision, explained before you write it.

The old tools show German keywords and hex. E-Series Studio shows what they mean and what a change will do, in one modern app built on NCS Expert and EDIABAS data. These are real screenshots of the current build.

Every coding value, explained.

Every function of a control unit with the factory value from the vehicle order right next to it, and NCS Expert's German keywords translated into English or Hungarian. Changes go to FSW_PSW.MAN for NCS Expert, with a history you can undo.

386

Next milestone

An AI assistant, built into E-Series Studio.

The decoding, the rules and the safety checks are already in place. Next comes an assistant with BimmerDock's E-series knowledge behind it, working right inside the app.

  • Ask about any coding function

What it does, what a change affects and whether it is safe, explained in plain language.

  • Describe a retrofit, get the plan

Order options, modules and values to code, checked against the vehicle order before anything is written.

  • Diagnose with live data

The assistant asks for the readings it needs, narrows down the cause and suggests the next measurement.

  • In your language, under your control

Every answer in the language you work in. Nothing is written to the car without your confirmation.

2,669

option codes named in English and Hungarian

2,652

EDIABAS control unit files (SGBDs) indexed

2,474

coding words in its own translation dictionary

Safe by design. E-Series Studio never writes to the car on its own. It prepares and verifies, shows every change first, and keeps a backup of every file it touches.

The AI assistant

A specialist's reasoning, guided by AI.

A fault code is the start of a diagnosis, not the answer. The BimmerDock assistant walks you through the same process I follow in the workshop — step by step, until the cause is found.

  1. 1

    Read the car

Fault memory from every module, decoded into plain language: what it means, how urgent it is, what usually causes it.

  2. 2

    The AI asks for evidence

Instead of guessing, the assistant decides which live data values or measurements it needs next — and tells you exactly how to get them.

  3. 3

    Narrow it down

You feed back the readings. The assistant weighs them against how these cars actually fail, rules causes in or out, and picks the next test.

  4. 4

    Fix it with guidance

Once the cause is clear: which part, where it sits, how to get to it, and what to check after the repair.

Workshop knowledge built in

Failure patterns, test sequences and shortcuts from daily work on BMWs — not generic car advice.

Your language

Ask and get answers in the language you think in. No more German-only documentation.

Photos, not just codes

On the phone app, show the assistant a connector, a leak or a part number and talk it through.

You stay in control

The assistant explains and suggests. Every change to the car is shown, confirmed and backed up first.

Track record

  • Know which part to buy — and which ones to leave alone
  • Get repair guidance in your own language
  • Know when a job is better left to a specialist

Professionals & specialists

Do the hard jobs faster and safer.

For technicians, independent workshops and serious enthusiasts who do coding, programming and deep diagnostics every day.

  • One application instead of a stack of legacy tools
  • Factory-level functions on current Windows hardware
  • Backups and safety checks before anything is written
  • An AI assistant that helps you reason through difficult faults
About

Built by one of its own users.

I'm Brendon, a BMW specialist and an authorized BMW service partner in Hungary. Every day I diagnose, code and repair these cars — and every day I run into the same outdated tools and the same avoidable, expensive mistakes.

I'm not building this for a community I've read about. I'm one of the people it's for. I know how frustrating it is that this software doesn't exist, which is exactly why I started building it.

I also studied software engineering at university, so I see the whole picture: from the car on the lift to the code that talks to it.

How BimmerDock software is built

  • Safety before speed

Backups before every write, clear confirmations, no silent changes to the car.

  • No shortcuts around protections

BimmerDock software does not bypass BMW's security measures or manufacturer safeguards.

  • Honest AI

The assistant explains its reasoning, says when it isn't sure, and tells you when a job needs a professional.

  • Done properly

A registered business with the right contracts and licences behind everything it ships.
